Scholarship Opportunity for High School Seniors

When you add up to cost of tuition, books, lab fees, parking passes, and sometimes even room and board, the cost of a college education adds up fast.  Fortunately, one organization is offering an opportunity to help avoid racking up the debt. 

The Lutheran Community Foundation plans to award one $5,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who plans to attend a Lutheran-affiliated college or university for the 2014-2015 academic year. 

The requirements for this scholarship are as follows:
  1. Be a high school graduating senior and a member of a congregation that holds an active LCF Organizational Fund
  2. Demonstrate financial need and submit a copy of their FAFSA Student Aid Report
  3. Plan to attend an accredited Lutheran-affiliated college or university
  4. At the time of the award, candidates must be enrolled on a full-time basis based upon the respective institution's definition of full-time status
  5. Be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 grading system as confirmed by LCF receipt of Official Transcript verifying GPA
  6. Submit essays on the topics described on page 4  (see PDF below)
  7. Ensure receipt of two confidential letters of recommendation-one authored by the candidate/s pastor and one authored by a teacher - by the deadline
