LCMC Retirement Plan – What Church Councils/Boards Should Know

It is the congregation’s––more importantly, lay leadership’s––responsibility to ensure that their pastors and families are cared for properly.

Planning proper compensation and benefits for those who serve the church is an important task. Every church should see that the pastors and staff have adequate salary and retirement benefits established.

The LCMC 403B Retirement Plan is a great vehicle for pastors and staff to save for retirement. There are no set-up fees or ongoing administration fees for the church. It is flexible and each congregation may determine the amount (if any) they would like to contribute.

There is no mandatory employer contribution, but we encourage church employers to contribute on behalf of their employees whenever possible. The plan also allows the participant to make their own payroll deduction contributions.
