The total number of participants included 440 delegates, 190 church members, 24 seminarians, 49 vendors, 2 speakers, 8 members of the Board of Trustees, 6 LCMC staff members, and 44 guests who were non-members of LCMC.

The event kicked off with dinner on Sunday evening, followed by an opening worship service preached by Andrea Paulson, Associate Pastor of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Hastings, NE).

Greg Finke, Executive Director of dwelling114.org, and Grace Johnson, Education Administrator at The Master's Institute Seminary, keynoted this year’s event, which focused on inspiring our congregations to “Listen Up!” to God’s calling on our lives, His calling on the people around us, and the callings and challenges that face us across generations.

Bible studies were led each morning by Jim Cords, who serves at Desert Hope Lutheran Church (Tucson, AZ) and on the LCMC Ministry Board.

Over the course of the four day event, participants also took part in fellowship meet-ups, and breakout sessions, networked, plus had the chance to connect with dozens of the mission and ministry organizations who participated as vendors.

In his Service Coordinator Report on Monday afternoon, Mark Vander Tuig announced his retirement in 2020, as well as new working relationships with people in Brazil and Norway.

Also announced were three upcoming events for 2020:

On Tuesday evening, a concert was offered featuring Rachel Scott, a singer, songwriter, and worship leader from Omaha.  For more information on Rachel and to view a copy of the music she recently wrote for LCMC, click here.

On Wednesday morning, the assembly joined Mark Vander Tuig in thanking Julie Smith and Steve Hagler for their service on the LCMC Board of Trustees and welcoming two newly elected members, Jonathan Anderson (Area 2) and Randy Freund (Area 3).

The current LCMC Board of Trustees consists of Brodie Taphorn (Area 5 - Chair), Jason Eliot (Area 7 - Vice Chair), Darrin Vick (Area 6 - Secretary), Jeff Wold (At Large - Treasurer), Jonathan Anderson (Area 2), Randy Freund (Area 3), Susan Gunderson (Area 4), and Jeremey King (Area 1).

2019 Annual Gathering Photo Contest Announced! http://www.solapublishing.com/blog/2019-annual-gathering-photo-contest-announced/a853.html Fri, 29 Mar 19 00:00:00 +0000 Entry Form  |  FAQs  |  Deadline: July 15th

How has your congregation “Listened Up” to the needs of others on a local, national, or international level over the past year?  Enter the 2019 Annual Gathering Photo Contest and share your stories with us!

The LCMC staff is once again welcoming photo submissions from LCMC pastors, leaders, and church members that depict how their congregation has been "in Mission for Christ" over the past year.

We especially love to see photos from service projects, outreach events/activities/programs, mission trips, creative/artistic projects, disaster relief, and church planting efforts from any and all age groups within your congregation!

HERE'S HOW TO ENTER:

  1. Go to www.lcmc.net/2019-photocontest and review the photo guidelines
  2. Upload a photo, fill out the entry form, and click “submit"
  3. You will receive a confirmation message once your photo has been submitted.

You may enter as many photos as you’d like, however to ensure that we are able to communicate the story behind your photo, the entry form must accompany each submission.

Photos will be selected based on subject matter (how closely they fit the theme), quality of the photo (not squished, blurry, or overlapped by text or clip art), and the story behind the photo (the photo description explaining how your congregation is making a difference).

Due to printing requirements, time restraints, and the high volume of photos we receive each year we are unable to guarantee the publication of each and every photo submitted, however all eligible photos received by Monday, July 15th will be considered for publication in our 2019 Annual Gathering books.

Hard copy books will be available at the Annual Gathering in October, and a digital edition of the book will be available on our website and in our mobile app once the Annual Gathering begins.

The LCMC 19th Annual Gathering and Convention takes place September 29 - October 2, 2019 at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, NE.

Church Planting Retreat to Be Offered During Annual Gathering http://www.solapublishing.com/blog/church-planting-retreat-to-be-offered-during-annual-gathering/a854.html Thu, 28 Mar 19 00:00:00 +0000 Discipling: Beginning with the End in Mind

Your church plant has a vision.  It is biblical and even ambitious.  But if you want to see people living in the reality of that vision some day, you will need to carefully craft a discipling process to that end.

With that in mind, the 2:47 Network is once again hosting a church planters retreat within the LCMC Annual Gathering, going deeper with our guest and keynote speaker, Rev. Greg Finke (Executive Director of Dwelling114).

Current church planters, spouses, and anyone interested in planting are welcome!

There is no additional cost to attend the retreat, however interested persons must be registered for the Annual Gathering.

To sign up for the retreat, email Dan Clites at dan@lcmc.net after you have registered for the Annual Gathering.
