LCMC Blog [LCMC Site Update Topic] Read the the latest news, announcements and articles from LCMC. en-us Get Mobile Updates! Sun, 28 Jan 18 00:00:00 +0000 Did you know that the LCMC App lets you sign up to receive news updates on your mobile device based entirely on your interests?  Here's a breakdown of what's available:

General Notifications:

Select this option if you’d like to be notified ONLY of announcements that aren’t related to attending a specific event.  Examples:

  • New videos/podcasts
  • Service projects
  • Contests
  • Major news updates from the LCMC Staff and Boards

Event Specific Notifications:

We use this feature to notify you when registration opens for your favorite events, when a deadline related to an event you’ve selected is approaching, and when any major new details get announced for that event.  (For Three Days of Prayer, you’ll receive a message reflecting on the themes during each of the three days.)  App users who sign up for these types of notifications will only receive announcements for the specific events they’ve opted in for.

On Site Notifications:

While attending a larger LCMC event such as the Annual Gathering, opting-in for on site notifications will allow you to receive any announcements or updates that are made during the event, such as meeting room assignments and service project information.  You will only receive these types of messages for the duration of the event you’re attending.

Don’t worry, if you sign up for our notification system we won’t spam you with constant daily messages. We’re just using this feature as a way to help make it easier to receive news updates in the most timely manner possible.

Here’s How:

  1. If you haven't already, download our app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Open the app and click on the icon in the top left corner to access your inbox, notes, and app settings.
  3. Select "Settings", then "Notifications".
  4. On the Notifications page, simply toggle on anything you'd like to get updates about.

That's it!

We're Forming a Non-Geographic Hispanic Network! Fri, 17 Feb 17 00:00:00 +0000 We have a number of congregations and ministries that have a tremendous outreach to Hispanic communities, and it would good if we could get these leaders, ministers, ministries connected.

If your congregation is currently carrying out an Hispanic ministry, mission, or agency in our association, and you would like to get connected, please click here and sign up.  If you are interested in learning more about developing an Hispanic ministry, feel free to sign up as well.

As we get some folks on our list, we will assign a coordinator, put together a “mission statement” and see what the Lord might do with this.

We have a number of non-geographic districts, and LCMC grew out of one many years ago called “Word Alone Network”.

The purpose of non-geographic districts is to give people who are separated by many miles, but united in interest, a chance to connect, support and encourage, and even offer insight and training for those who want to grow a ministry.

I think this network could also be a tremendous resource for those who would like to initiate a ministry in this arena.

Our Website Has a New Layout! Mon, 03 Oct 16 00:00:00 +0000 The LCMC Staff and Board of Trustees is excited to announce that today we have launched a new and improved version of our website in conjunction with our new logo and mobile app.

To help make using our site a better experience for all, we have simplified our layout, made our site easier to navigate overall, and completely optimized it for use on your smartphone or tablet, so you can access the same resources and information as before in a more efficient way.

In addition to simplifying our menu system, we’ve made it quicker for pastors and congregations to update their directory information, submit events for the LCMC calendar, and share their prayer requests and news stories.  (Just click on the red button at the top of the page you'd like us to update!)

Our "Find a Church" tool has also been updated, making it easier to search for nearby LCMC congregations in any area.

We’ve also cleaned up the layout of our media library, making it easier to find and watch videos from past LCMC events. (You’ll find the same organization of videos and podcasts inside our mobile app, which enables its users to stream media to their TV using Apple TV or Google Chromecast.)

We hope you enjoy the new look and improved functionality of our website.  If you have any questions, you can always contact us.

LCMC to Launch New Website, Logo at Annual Gathering Tue, 02 Aug 16 00:00:00 +0000 The LCMC Staff and Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that on Monday of this year’s Annual Gathering, we will be launching a brand new, re-designed version of our website.  To help make using our site a better experience for all, our new design will be easier to navigate and completely optimized for use on your smartphone or tablet while still providing the same information and resources that are available today.

At this time, we will also be rolling out with an updated version of our logo and branding.  A great deal of time, thought and effort has gone in to creating a logo that embodies the mission and vision of our association, and we are confident that our new design will help communicate exactly who we are: a first century church for the twenty first century.

Whether you’ll be joining us in person or tuning in online via live stream, we look forward to sharing these improvements with you in just a few short weeks.

The LCMC 16th Annual Gathering, themed Back to the Future: First Century Principles for the Twenty First Century, takes place October 2-5, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Denver Airport Convention Center in Denver, CO.  Early bird registration ends September 1, so be sure to sign up soon to receive the best rate!

Our 15th Annual Gathering Starts Today. Watch It LIVE Here! Sun, 04 Oct 15 00:00:00 +0000 Our 15th Annual Gathering, themed "Our DNA", kicks off tonight at 5:30 P.M. CDT and continues through Wednesday morning.  The event features keynote speakers, worship and Bible study, vendors, breakout sessions and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow LCMC-ers from across the nation and around the world.

We've Launched CHURCHES CONNECT! Wed, 27 May 15 00:00:00 +0000 When I first started in this job in 2010, I had an idea about a way to use our website to connect congregations with one another.  The idea came from the internet dating programs that are now commonplace and have resulted in thousands of marriages. We are finally ready to launch this new effort.

Here’s how it works:

  1. The leader/pastor/member of a congregation goes to our website and signs up for Churches Connect.
  2. Some basic demographic and congregational information is entered into an online profile.  Some congregations will be listing the strengths they think might help other congregations; some congregations will be looking for resources for an area of ministry they want to develop.
  3. The database will match congregations who are looking for help or resources with other congregations that can offer experience and resources for that same area of ministry.

The profile information is needed so that real help can be offered that makes sense for the size of the congregation, the community in which they are planted and the resources they have available.  As participation in Churches Connect grows, the database, categories and resources will grow right along with it.

LCMC is all about horizontal and partnership-based relationships in ministry.  After traveling around our association for the last 5 years, I am aware of some great things that are happening, and I am also of some great needs that others have.

The benefit will be very limited unless our congregations actually sign up and fill out the profile.  Those of us who work for this association are limited as well, both in time and information.  We are not all going to be here forever, but I hope that what the Lord has begun in our association will last long after all of us.  Churches Connect can hold information and create relationships well into the rest of the 21st Century!

Peter Churness, the person who has designed this program and administers it, has posted a video tutorial that is available on our website.  He will walk through each step with you in order to make sure that if you are interested, you will be able to have access to this developing resource for mission and ministry!

Churches Connect is a way that we can continue to be an association that is built on relationships that are mutual, relational, congregational and horizontal!

You can find churches connect under Networking > Churches Connect or by clicking on the link below.

We've Added a Search Bar! Wed, 29 Oct 14 00:00:00 +0000 To help make it easier to navigate our website, we have added a new "search bar" feature.

This new feature enables site users to find information and documents on the LCMC website by typing in what they're looking for, as opposed to using the menu at the side of our homepage.

For those who may be new to using the internet, or have limited computer skills, a brief tutorial on how to use this feature to find information on the LCMC website is included below.
