What happens when pastors retire and ride off into the sunset?
Hosanna! Lutheran Church will be hosting a new retreat for retired pastors and spouses from August 29-31, 2022 at Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp in Milford, IA.
This event will give you an opportunity to connect with other retired pastors, be inspired, and hear helpful financial information…all at a cost you can’t refuse, even if you no longer have a church paying your way!
This retreat offers an opportunity to come together with others who may be facing the same things you are right now, and/or have a common life story that needs to be shared with those who understand what it is like to be a retired pastor and/or a retired pastor's spouse. Our hope is that a retreat targeted for retired pastors and spouses may bless each person who attends.
There will be plenty of time for conversation, to renew old friendships and make new ones, for reflection, and for worship.
We want those who are coming to have the opportunity to learn, worship, and take part in structured conversations.
A welcome will be shared by John Nelson, Rod Quanbeck, and Mike Bradley. Julie Smith will lead the devotions and worship. Stephen Anenson and Lee Leevag will reflect on retirement for them to initiate conversations, and Tom Luing will present on finances in retirement.
We will also discuss the idea of forming an LCMC fellowship for retired pastors and spouses.
The cost to attend is only $75 per person, and has been subsidized by Hosanna! Lutheran Church to help keep costs low. Registration includes two nights lodging, five meals, and snacks. If you wish, you can stay in a cabin for an additional $75 for the complete stay, whether you attend on your own or with a spouse.
To register for the retreat, contact Okoboji Lutheran Bible camp at 1 (800) 656-2654 and ask for Chris.
For those in need of financial assistance, scholarships to help cover the costs of the retreat and/or a portion of travel are available through Hosanna! Lutheran Church in St. Charles, IL.
