Meals from the Heartland Service Project Update

At their last meeting, the LCMC Board of Trustees decided to cancel the meal packaging event scheduled for the Tuesday night of our upcoming Annual Gathering and Convention in Des Moines.  To date, we have only received just over $11,000 of our $80,000 fundraising goal for this project. We are grateful for everyone who has already contributed.  All of the funds donated, as well as any future contributions, will be given ... [...]

18th Annual Gathering Registration is Open

"Growing Up" is the theme of our 18th Annual Gathering and Convention, and we've invited Dr. Kent Hunter of Church Doctor Ministries to help us consider how congregations of all sizes can be focused on the Great Commission and develop a kingdom mindset.  Jo Kinnard will be returning this year to serve as our Bible study leader as we reflect on the text of Ephesians 4.  Mark Vander Tuig and Perry Fruhling will ... At our 2016 Annual Gathering in Denver, Colorado, we partnered with Lutheran World Relief to assemble 8,228 personal care kits for people in need.  The staff of LCMC has received an update from Lutheran World Relief that the kits we packaged have been shipped to Angola on March 28, 2017 and should be arriving within the next four months.  Lutheran World Relief will be working with Hope for Angola to ensure that the ... WE DID IT!

Last year, we announced to all of our congregations that one of our goals as an association for 2014 was to raise $80,000 for our 14th Annual Gathering service project with Meals from the Heartland.  Today, we reached that goal!  100% of the donations that we have received will be used to purchase enough food, packaging supplies and shipping to feed 400,000 people in need, both in the U.S. and abroad.  The food packages ... Can We Really Feed 400,000 People?

One of LCMC's goals for 2014 is to help fight hunger in the U.S. and abroad by preparing 400,000 meals together with Meals from the Heartland this fall.  As an association made up of over 800 congregations worldwide, this is something that we can accomplish, but only if we work together!    To make our service project happen, we are going to need two things: volunteers and supplies.  We will be packaging the meals ... Register Now for LCMC's 14th Annual Gathering!

What do we say and how do we respond?  These are the questions that often face Christians and Lutherans in 2014 right here in America.  We are now living in a “post-denominational era”; the way we used to do church is no longer working.  Times have changed and we now need to be able to defend, explain and affirm our faith in Christ alone.  We have been given a great heritage of faith and theology through the ... Meal Packaging Project Update

Preparations for this fall's meal packaging project are underway, and we are making progress in raising the $80,000 needed for the supplies we will use to package 400,000 meals together at our Annual Gathering in October.   As of January, we have collectively raised $8,940.67 to be used for obtaining food, packaging materials and postage for the project.   Those wishing to make a donation to the project, or to download ...
