Trinity Lutheran is located in Platte, South Dakota, which is in the southeast corner of the state. Platte is approximately 120 miles west of Sioux Falls and maintains a population of 1200. We are a community rich in agriculture, along with healthy Main Street featuring many businesses. Hunting, fishing and camping opportunities are abundant due to our close proximity of only 13 miles to the Missouri River.
Trinity Lutheran is an LCMC affiliated church that is home to 150 families. After years in our original location, we outgrew that building and then moved to our newly constructed church in December of 2000. Later, in 2008 we added on more education rooms, a fireside fellowship room and a basement for youth activities. We consider ourselves a healthy congregation that is committed to preaching God's word and applying it to our daily lives. We do blended services with both contemporary and traditional features. We value our elderly and have a very strong commitment to youth ministry as well.
Trinity Lutheran is a wonderful combination of many of God's blessings. We have a rich history that we honor, yet we continually try to stretch ourselves in new ways to serve. Our congregation is a mix of elderly and families with a long history at Trinity along with many young families new to the church and community. Trinity has many traditions that it holds dear, but we aren't afraid to try something new. We have grown through the years and have been led by the same pastor for 17 years. We are currently reevaluating many aspects of our church as we forge into a new chapter at Trinity. Despite uncertainty, we are faithful and trusting of God's plan for His church. We know that He will lead us and we are dedicated to following His Word and Spirit.
