    St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, LCMC

    Salisbury, NC 28146

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church- Salisbury, an established (1830) Lutheran Church in North Carolina has an immediate opening for a Senior Pastor.

    Church Information

St. Paul’s is a congregation of 542 baptized members with an average Sunday worship attendance of 197.  St. Paul's is in the midst of an Intentional Interim process which has included congregational input.  As a result of that process and prayerful reflection, the Council and congregation have chosen to reconfigure our staffing model.  Two positions are being phased out: a parish nurse and a youth director.  They will be replaced by the addition of a second pastor - with duties to be apportioned between the two pastors.  The Senior Pastor is being called first, but the same Call Committee will shift to filling the second vacancy after the new Senior Pastor is confirmed. The newly selected Senior Pastor will join the Call Committee in the selection of the additional clergy. A Secretary and an Organist/Music Director remain on staff.  Custodial and accounting services are contracted. There is a strong sense of church family, which we want to share with our growing community.  Our church is debt free with a strong benevolence budget.  For additional information on our congregation, please visit www.splcweb.org, or www.facebook.com/StPaulsLCMC/

St. Paul’s is a congregation with a rich history of worship. There is one primary service each Sunday, along with an abbreviated weeknight service. Accompaniment may be provided by organ, piano, or electronic keyboard. An adult choir sings an anthem weekly. The liturgy varies between LBW settings and Reclaim settings. The entire service is printed in the bulletin. Hymnody is primarily drawn from the two hymnals – but also incorporates a broader range of sources. The pastor generally leads the liturgy with the assistance of a lector and communion servers. Congregational leadership have voiced a strong consensus about retaining historical components of the liturgy, while also incorporating a range of musical styles and tempos.
