    Congregational Profile

We are a Spirit-filled congregation blessed to have been led by our pastor who served this congregation since its conception 15 years ago.   At present, one of the defining characteristics of our church is ministry to and among “Winter Texans,” who arrive beginning in October and remain through the Spring.  Average Sunday attendance is approximately 20-30 people in the summer, but increases to around 80 with the influx of “Winter Texans.” Our congregation has aspired to become a multigenerational church, as well as a multicultural congregation since we are located within 7 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Our church extended a call to a pastor this past year.  Due to the unforeseen extent of the Covid 19 pandemic, our called Pastor elected to take an early retirement.

We are looking for a pastor, whomever it is who God has for us.  Certainly, we hold standard, scriptural non-negotiables, and we would like to find someone who shares the teaching gift of our recently retired pastor.  But we understand the role of a pastor to be a shepherd of community, so we are looking for someone we can trust to lead us into the life God has for our congregation in the coming decade.

    Life in the Community

Our church currently meets on the dividing line between McAllen and Mission, TX, seven miles from the US-Mexico border.  The community is known for exceptional weather, low cost of living, and a unique blend of Mexican and American cultures.  Major employers include several hospitals, independent school districts, and the growing University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley.  Many “Winter Texans” arrive beginning in October and stay through the spring, adding to the local population.  (McAllen boasts over 130,000 people, while the population of Mission is over 77,000.)
