Our mission statement at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of LaMoille, IL is "responding in faith to the Call of the Holy Spirit through the Gospel, desiring to unite together to preach the Word, administer the sacraments, and carry out God's mission." We are a congregation founded in 1856 by a group of farm families who wanted to form a church rooted in their German heritage. We are passionate about worship and reaching out to support the people in our community and beyond through mission work. Our recent pastor moved back home to be closer with family. So we are now seeking a pastor to lead us in our ministry.
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church is located just off of IL Route 34 between LaMoille, a town of 750, and Mendota, with 7,500 people. We are a congregation surrounded by beautiful green or gold fields, depending on the season; but also conveniently located, enabling us to take a day trip in any direction. The Chicago area, Rockford, Bloomington, and the Quad Cities are all within a two-hour drive.
God sure surprised us with a new way to worship together spiritually, while being physically apart last spring due to the virus pandemic. During our pastoral vacancy, we have had the privilege to hear sermons from numerous clergy members in our area, study scripture, sing hymns, and pray via Zoom. We have been blessed with the reminder that, "We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us."
We ask you to prayerfully consider whether God may be calling you to this position. We are interested in establishing a connection and to find out whether our direction and purpose are one in the same. We would be happy to share more information about our church and community with you. Please reach out via email for a congregational profile.
