  • Description:

We are a God-focused, Christ-centered, Bible-based, and Spirit-led congregation, member of the LCMC, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. Our Worship Services are blended using a variety of settings of Liturgical worship and praise music. The ambiance is welcoming and we have a “Come as you are” style.

Gloria Dei is a small congregation located on a busy street in a culturally diverse neighborhood in San Jose, California. We share our well-maintained campus with the IMDC  (Iglesia Missionera del Camino, a Pentecostal, charismatic Spanish-speaking congregation.

We offer many ministries providing daily support for our community:

Early Learning Center - A non-profit preschool currently working at near capacity offering a diverse and Christian-based program of learning and fun.

Lord's Pantry - A food distribution program that is one of the largest in the County, operating 4 days a week, offering food and other programs for families and homeless people.

Care Ministry— a well-developed program for supporting people in our community through personal contact, shut-in visits, transportation to appointments and Worship services, a care-card ministry, and convalescent home visitations.

Benevolence Funds— 10% of our income is put aside each month and a team of members meet semi-annually to review and select Christian-based organizations to receive the funds.

Prayer Ministry— We strongly believe in the need to seek God’s will through prayer and have formed strong prayer groups, prayer pods, and have regular temple talks and articles (both printed and online) on the power of prayer.

Our goal at Gloria Dei remains to be “Disciples Making Disciples” by sharing God’s love to people from all walks of life, in all situations. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, Right Here, Right Now!

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Mission Statement: 'Caring Growing, Serving' was determined after careful consideration of just those things that we are already doing: caring for each other, growing in our faith, and serving the community around us. Underlying our Mission, Vision and Values must always be the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40). As we continue to develop a shared vision in this place, our constant prayer is that the Holy Spirit will continually empower each and every one of us to carry on the mission to which we are called. Jesus said, “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18) and two things must be said in response: Count on it! And Lord, use me!
