Description: St. Peter's Lutheran Church is a congregation with a long history of 142 years that began with Danish immigrants. We are an LCMC congregation which is primarily a mature group with the majority of members having their family's history associated with St. Peter's. Our average attendance on Sunday mornings is 8-15 members, and we have about 30 active members. Our pastor retired the end of July and we are currently looking for an interim pastor or a pastor on a permanent part-time basis. Worship time with a traditional service has been at 9 AM, however this can be determined as to what time works best for an interim or part-time pastor.
Activities of our church are: fellowship with coffee immediately after church each Sunday; an annual meatball dinner; an annual church sale which includes baked goods, homemade crafts, theme baskets, white elephant items (garage sale items), and a meal; adopting a family at Christmas time; and our ladies assemble quilts for our graduates each year. In the past we have had an adult Bible study usually held on a weeknight September through May. There are no youth programs or confirmation at this time.
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church is located 2 miles outside of the Village of Luck, WI. Luck's population is just over 1,000 people. We are approximately 70 miles northeast of Minneapolis, MN, 90 miles northwest of Eau Claire, WI, and 90 miles south of Duluth, MN. Luck has a K-12 school, a local grocery store, Dollar General, an 18 hole golf course, specialty shops, gas stations, a well-known meat market, a library, a pharmacy, banks and dental, eye and medical clinics. 4 hospitals are within 25 miles. Other churches in the village include an ELCA and a baptist congregation.
We are searching for a pastor who is a sincere spiritual leader with expertise in Biblical and theological matters who will communicate faith and teach Biblical truths through inspirational speaking skills; is a good listener to all; is able to work well with individual groups within the church; and is eager to bring in new members. Ministry expectations would include leading worship; administering the Sacraments; visiting the sick, grieving and homebound; conducting special occasion worship services, funerals, marriages, and confirmation teaching when needed (we have 2 children in grade school at the present time); be reachable through phone calls, emails, etc.; attend council meetings as a non-voting member; install regularly elected members of the council; and is good in guiding us in outreach.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns. We pray God's guidance and blessings to you.
