  • Description:

Greetings from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Preschool in Irvine, California. We are currently engaged in a search for our next Senior Pastor and are inviting interested and qualified candidates to apply.

We are earnestly seeking the Lord’s wisdom—through prayer—in finding a new pastor to lead our congregation’s ministries.  Our current pastor is retiring and is willing to stay on, for a brief time, to help facilitate a smooth transition for the new pastor and our congregation.

Irvine, California, is in southern Orange County, mid-way between Los Angeles and San Diego.  Good Shepherd is a vibrant, well-staffed ministry that includes a preschool known for its excellent program, stellar reputation, and strong community ties.

Our worship ministry is comprised of two Sunday-morning services - one which involves contemporary music, and the other traditional.  Our current (post-Covid) weekly average worship attendance average is around 250.

We are a congregation that continues to be transformed by the Word of God.  In the last couple of years, we have been moving toward a disciple-making ministry model. With this emphasis, we have been offering classes focused on sharing ways to live in a daily relationship with Jesus, including spiritual growth in and through prayer and Bible study.  At present, around 150 of our members are involved in ongoing small groups.  We are poised to grow and want to expand into the diversity of our local community.

We are looking for a pastor who follows Jesus, is visionary, leads through the Holy Spirit and ministers through preaching and giving weekly Bible-based sermons. This pastor should foster our desire to grow in spiritual formation while exhibiting a spirit of compassion and care for our members and the larger Irvine community. Finally, our new pastor will be responsible for leading and supervising our ministry staff. Our candidate should be certified in the LCMC or be willing to become certified.  Also, applicants should have a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary.
