    Director of Connection Ministry

    Part-Time

    Living Word Lutheran Church was founded out of a deep conviction to the Living Word of God, the Bible, His Word which is Holy.  Our church family supports one another and spreads the Good News so it is critical that this position worships weekly and prays daily for the church, its members, and its ministry while exploring ways to bring people into a personal relationship with Christ and grow in their faith. Living Word Lutheran Church is affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the Augustana District of LCMC.  

    The Director of Connection Ministry is responsible for fostering a welcoming environment, facilitating connections between people, and connecting people to opportunities to serve God and the needs of the church. The ideal candidate would be rooted in scripture, growing through worship, prayer, study, fellowship, and service, to joyfully proclaim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

    Responsibilities:

    • Connect new members and visitors to Living Word
      • Identify possible new members
      • Follow up with visitors
      • Organize new member classes
      • Help with new member Sunday
      • Connect new members with members for fellowship and encouragement
      • Help new members realize their gifts, matching their gifts with the needs of the church
    • Facilitate members in fellowship and living out their gifts
      • Connect people to one another for fellowship and spiritual growth
      • Connect people to service and ministry opportunities
      • Train people to serve/volunteer in some of the below roles:
        • Offering Counters
        • Hospitality (Ushers, Greeters, Information Center, Cookie/Coffee Servers)
        • Communion Assistants
        • Nursery & Childcare Volunteers
      • Maintain and help organize events/opportunities where people serve and connect with each other
    • Maintain and organize life groups
      • Help train leaders
      • Connect new members and current members into life groups
    • Research/develop/lead adult mission trips
    • Other duties as assigned and detailed in performance standards for the position.

    Qualifications:

    • A clear testimony of personal faith in, and a disciple of, Jesus Christ
    • Any collegiate/university degree is preferred; or 3+ years equivalent combination of training, skills, and experience
    • Strong ministry gifts and excellent people skills
    • Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills
    • Ability to initiate and maintain supportive relationships and a Christian lifestyle that can serve as an example to others
