To All LCMC Certified Pastors,
The Missionary Statement of Calvary Lutheran Church, Lee, IL is “To know Christ and to make Christ known in Word and Deed.”
Our church has its roots in the Lutheran Hauge Tradition (Norwegian) and dates back to 1870. We are Christ centered, attentive to God’s Holy Word, mission-minded, and happy to be an LCMC congregation.
We lost our pastor in February 2017, due to a short battle with cancer.
Calvary Lutheran Church is located in rural DeKalb county, three miles north of Lee, IL (337 people); ten miles southeast of Rochelle, IL (9500 people); and 20 miles southwest of the cities of DeKalb and Sycamore, IL (35,000 people). Our church serves ten different communities and many farm families.
In 2010 we transitioned into LCMC with a nearly unanimous vote. We have supported international missions for over 68 years. We also support local and regional community hunger and addiction centers. Our congregation is very giving with never having a budget. When a need arises, it is always taken care of.
With the untimely death of Pastor Craig Nelson, we are now moving forward to the future of how God will be leading and shaping us through the ministry of a new shepherd.
We are asking you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to Calvary Lutheran Church to serve as Pastor in all aspects of Christian ministry for our rural North-Central Illinois Congregation with 300+ baptized members and an average Sunday attendance of 80 members.
