The mission of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Bible-focused, praying community, is to equip and send disciples to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ locally and world-wide. Jesus is the reason we welcome and care for people, sharing his love and our resources as we network with diverse ministry partners.
St. Paul’s has been an integral part of the Minneapolis community for nearly 150 years. Currently we are in a pastoral transition, after a period of two consecutive 30-year pastorates with both pastors retiring after their service. With our rich history, we “seek to blaze the trail in collaborative ministry that crosses generations and cultures” (St. Paul’s vision statement).
We are looking for a pastor who is able to minister both to those who are seeking truth as well as to believers grounded in truth who desire a more intimate relationship with their Savior and Lord.
St. Paul's is located on the southern edge of downtown Minneapolis, an inner-city church in an extremely diverse urban neighborhood. Consequently, a passion for and experience in inner-city ministry are very important in a pastoral candidate. Other skill sets we seek include shepherding, Biblical preaching and teaching, discipleship, ability to assimilate the old with the new, and leadership by example, promoting unity in the body.
